The Ultras
(formerly The Ultra-Violets)
They were The Ultra-Violets. In a HIP Magazine interview, Rozz Williams (of Christian Death fame) called them "..ultra-cool and fabulous and just glam to the max!". They later dropped the "Violets" from their name and then became known only as The Ultras. The lead singer and frontman for the band was

Starrs from Mars member, Alistarr Lidell (aka Alice). I guess he took the name from Aleister Crowley and Alice in Wonderland, not sure (never asked him). He used to live with my friend Wendy in an apartment where EVERYBODY in Hollywood hung out in and got high, including the guys from Celebrity Skin. Alice always had William Burroughs recordings playing in the background in a little alcove he used to nod out in. We haven't seen him around lately but his ex-girlfriend Emily was working at The Martini Lounge during its opening year. Former Starrs from Mars bandmate Dominique was serving a one-year sentence for drugs last we heard, which he coincidentally served with artist Rx Probe 2000 Unit (aka Rex).
