HIP magazine is the name of a local underground subculture fanzine that was published in L.A. during the late 80's/early 90's by
Vladik Cervantes. It went into local distribution after he was given an interview with the U.K. punk band,
GBH. HIP quickly gained local notoriety and even received a following as far away as Italy, France, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Just to name a few examples of many, HIP gained attention on radio stations
(K-XLU 88.9), other magazines (Foetus Acid, Zombie Zoo, Fringe F***), inside album sleeves
(Ex-VoTo), in books
(Mick Mercer's Gothic Rock Book), and now,..it's on the Internet! We know there's much more to publish from the zine besides what is already here, so let us know if there's a particular interview or something that you'd like to see added to the site.
