HIP: Any of you been in any other well known bands besides Rozz Williams?
TOM:
Yeah, I'm in Judas Priest.
EVA:
I was in Black Sabbath and
Pink Floyd! (laughter)...No,
The Superheroines. So was Jill, The Superheroines too.
HIP:
How did Shadow Project come about?
TOM:
Well, these two
(points at Eva O and Jill Emery) have been friends for a long time.
ROZZ:
For an
eternity!
JILL:
Eva and I met in the desert. This is true, I was driving
to Vegas and I saw Eva on the side of the road with a coyote gnawing at her and I was
like, "God, I wonder if she plays guitar." and so it ends up she did and we've been
musician pals ever since.
TOM:
These three were together and they found
me when I was playing with Christy and the Flesheaters.
ROZZ: But we weren't
together together like sexually. We were just together.
HIP: Who writes the
lyrics?
ROZZ: Me and Eva write the lyrics.
HIP: What are they based on?
EVA: Death.......
ROZZ: They're about death, life, dreams, and
reality.
JILL: After listening to Hellhole I realized the lyrics
are really hot!
EVA: That song's about the generation of kids who are
killing people for Satan.
ROZZ: Ricky Caso!
HIP: How do you
guys work in the studio?
ROZZ: A lot of it comes together accidentally,
not just by chance but by chance the music does corelate to the lyrics or
emphasizes it
more. Some songs are specifically sat down. You know, it's
like here's the lyrics and here's the music I want to go with these lyrics;
and sometimes it's just like, here's these lyrics and someone else says,
"well here's some music." and sometimes it works.
HIP: What influences or inspires
you the most?
TOM: I think when we go play we just influence ourselves,
each other.
JILL: I think a good movie can even inspire me.
ROZZ: Anything can be inspiring.
EVA: Life. There's the answer! Life, everything.
HIP: So you guys are only
playing L.A. right now?

TOM:
No, we played
San Diego last month.
EVA:
We're going to play in Santa Barbara in November.
ROZZ:
And San Francisco, soon.
EVA:
And then we're going to Europe.
HIP: Do you guys plan on doing any cover songs?
EVA: Yeah, covers of Shadow Project.
(laughter) Yeah, we are (turns to Rozz). Don't say what it is Rozz.
ROZZ: I won't.
There is a couple of covers we're going to do.
TOM: We're going to do
"Colors" and some rap songs.
EVA: I quit.
HIP: Any recordings?
ROZZ: We're working on a demo tape right now.
EVA: I'd say in March we'll
have an
album out.
TOM: We'll be in the studio the first of next year to do a record.
HIP: How do you guys feel about being compared to Christian Death ?
EVA: Hey, we
not only get compared,..they think that we are
Christian Death, under a different
name! They should get it straight.
I'm sure, Shadow Project doesn't even start
with a "C". This is
Shadow Project, it has nothing to do with or never will have to do
with anything of Christian Death.
ROZZ: It's a whole new reality. Everyday is a new
reality.
EVA: If he bought marshmallows one day and then he went and
bought a
sledgehammer, would you think they were the same things
but transformed? No.
TOM: Marshmallows? (laughter from everyone)
JILL: Seriously.
ROZZ: I never thought Christian Death was marshmallows.
