HIP:
Do you feel the same way Gerard?GERARD: Oh yeah, it's a chemistry. I mean, not to sound cliche', it is a chemistry. It does work, that's the bottom line. We may not speak every day like a lot of other bands do but we know what's happening with ourselves, so it works. PAT: And if we didn't have something in common, it wouldn't work. I mean we all work pathetic jobs, which we don't want to talk about really, but when we're done with that shit, that's not our lives you know, this is it. We live for these little gigs, these underground little shitholes, that's what we live for. We'd like to make more money because we've all been at it for a pretty long time. We don't want to be Elton John but we'd like to be able to pay our rent doing this, and maybe someday we will. HIP: What about the new album? PAT: Yeah, that'll be out soon, plus we're booking some great shows. You see, when you strip it down and start over, which we relatively have done, it's a big chance you take and that's why we're getting more shows so we can see more people and they can understand what we're trying to do. We're still ahead of our time. I'd say in about a year fans won't be so gothic-oriented. I think there's going to be much more stripping down and being as naked as possible because that's the only truth that's left. Everything has been done. People out there reading this with big egos will go "He's a fucking bullshitter! He doesn't know what he's talking about!", but come on, think about it, it's all been done....with technology, sampling,..... We went the opposite direction: human energy, psychic energy, that's what we're doing. HIP: I remember the last interview we did with you in Kommunity FK. You where going to do a show in Tijuana, Mexico with TSOL. How'd that turn out? PAT: Oh yeah, when KFK played there was like eight cop cars outside, it was a total riot We played three songs and there were police beating punks up and stuff. People jumping off the stage, security guards with stun guns, using them on girls. SEGAL: What men! PAT: Yeah, what men. I'm watching this whole thing, these guys are using stun guns on chicks and I stopped, it was like, "Fuck this, no way!" you know. If that's the only way you can get pussy, or whatever you like to stick it into, that's just the wrong way to go about it. But yeah, we loved it down there. This band would blow them away if we ever went down there. There'd be stage dives and shit because there's so much aggression with the federales. I've seen them, they're assholes. ![]() PAT: We just want to say, give us some time before you hear the second record, and that what we're doing now is completely against the grain, hopefully more fans will understand that. We're not selling out. What we're doing is 200 percent real. SEGAL: We want to thank anybody who has laid down their hard earned money to come and see us play. We really, really appreciate that. It's a fucking rough world to get along in. If you're lucky enough to have a few bucks to eat nowadays, it's amazing. PAT: Yeah, and support HIP magazine because this magazine has been around. It's been around for ages. You're our voice. HIP magazine is Sativa Luvbox's and Kommunity FK's voice. Print that!
